John deere power reverser

I just bought a JD4410 with Power Reverse. I am new to these transmissions so I was wondering if the performance on mine is normal. I have the transmission in neutral and the forward/reverse lever in neutral as well. I depress the clutch , select the range (A, B, or C) , find a gear between 1-4.
