Here's my take on Roehl's $3,130 "cost of job training" contract which is insulting. This is a contract that covers their costs of training me. It's for $3,150 and new drivers have to drive 75,000 miles. I'm set up for their orientation for a regional job and I am a new driver. They are paid hourly. Guy I spoke to said he made $27 an hour, if I recall correctly. The ones I've talked to mentioned they do it part time, like they drive trucks for another company and then some for 10 roads. Not sure how that works. Dogs can and do run around when outside and it only takes one second for the dog to get ran over by a truck in the parking lot. Can't be mad at the driver. That is what a leash is for. You've really got to have a rock-solid relationship built on mutual trust and reinforced with open, honest communication for this to work. I find dry is mostly drops and Hooks. With loads going about 3 to 6 hundred miles on average. Reefer dose have more stops on it but we get paid stop pay. My loads average about 1000+ miles. I have found I get more miles per week reefer then I do dry van.I put an application in, waiting to hear from them. Figure the holiday may slow down responses. One of the major reasons is because anyone with a dualy can be a hotshot. Most don't even require a CDL. Pickups wear out at 250, 000 miles if you're lucky.
